The Help Community & Environment program is a broader category that will cover several different areas, such as environmental and wildlife conservation, disaster relief programs, social transformation activities, and raising awareness about matters related to public welfare.
FOL has initiated and completed several projects over the last five years.

I had the opportunity to work alongside some amazing ex-veterans and other wonderful volunteers to help communities affected by bushfires in Victoria.
Representing Friends of Lanka I joined the "Operation Ranaudo" organized by Disaster Relief Australia. We were based in the little town of Chewton and I was a part of Strike Team Alpha for 5 days of cleanup efforts. We heard the tragic stories of people who lost everything and who were so lucky that their houses were spared by a miracle.
And in return we received heartfelt appreciation of a grateful community. They also brought homemade cakes and pastries. It was a truly wonderful and unforgettable experience which I cannot really describe in words.

Stand with the community. Be the impact.
There is a unique kind of strength found in the aftermath of a disaster. Not just the resilience of those who survived, but also the dedication of those who show up to help.
My recent time volunteering with Disaster Relief Australia (DRA) during Operation RANAUDO was a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we work as one. Joining the clean up efforts in Victoria, I saw first hand the incredible impact of local volunteers.

Over five days in Merton, we worked with Disaster Relief Australia (DRA)a veteran-led non-profit delivering hands-on disaster recovery support.
A few takeaways:
• Discipline – Strong, structured operations
* Inclusiveness – Lived values at every level

Shanika (Wave 4), Gamini (Wave 8) and Nandalal and Saliya (Wave 9) from our FOL family joined forces with DRA Operation RANAUDO, supporting communities impacted by the 2026 Victorian bushfires.
Immediate impact – Direct, tangible support for affected communities
A humbling and inspiring experience.
We highly recommend volunteering with DRA.

MediAID projects are a key part of FOL's 'Help Community and Environment' Program. When the communities we live in need support for unexpected situations such as pandemics, medical emergencies, or health-related needs of their members, FOL always endeavours to extend its support within its means.
In keeping with this objective, FOL has implemented several different MediAIDS projects in the last few years.
