Uplifting Lives Through Social Support
Ranliya is a heartfelt initiative under FOL’s Help Enterprise Program, created to support a determined group of mothers living in the Padaviya area of the Anuradhapura district. Through the Ranliya Kulagana Society, these women operate a home-based manufacturing venture producing items such as school bags, casual bags, women’s underwear, mosquito nets, soft toys, and various household goods.
At the beginning, this small-scale operation showed promise. However, despite the quality of their products, the group soon struggled to find enough market opportunities to sustain their efforts.
In response, and in keeping with the values of the Help Enterprise Program, FOL stepped in to provide much-needed assistance. By purchasing school bags and other items each year for its Help Learn project—which distributes these goods to hundreds of students—FOL offered a stable and meaningful form of support.
This ongoing partnership has become a lifeline for the Ranliya women, allowing them to continue their work with renewed hope and confidence. It stands as a testament to how timely social help can uplift families, sustain livelihoods, and nurture self-reliance in underserved communities.

Thankshila is a single mother from a remote village in the Anuradhapura District. She lives with her child and also takes care of her elderly parents. Thankshila did not have any source of regular income and sought assistance from FOL to obtain a dairy cow so she could earn a regular income by selling milk to the local milk collection center.
In October 2022, with the recommendation of our Representative, FOL donated a cow. Thanks to the generosity of our members who supported this worthy project, Thankshila now has a regular source of income support.
